The incident took place around 1 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 14, at Miller Nissan in the Town of Fairfield.
Officers responded to the Cumberland Farms on Kings Highway after receiving a call that a delivery man had stumbled into the store after being shot at the dealership located at 930 Kings Highway East, according to Lt. Eddie Weihe, of the Fairfield Police Department.
The victim was transported to an area hospital and has undergone surgery, Weihe said. The latest report was that he is expected to recover, said police.
The suspect was described as a male wearing a hooded sweatshirt who fled from the scene towards Castle Avenue.
Fairfield and Westport K9s conducted tracks that led to a nearby residence, but they were unable to locate the suspect at the time.
A follow-up investigation led investigators back to that residence and Fairfield detectives took a suspect into custody for questioning at approximately 6:20 a.m., Weihe said.
"At this time, there is no reason to believe additional suspects are at large and as such, there is no active threat to public safety," Weihe said.
This remains an active and ongoing investigation with updates pending.
